Mary Van Brittan Brown – Home Security System

About: Mary Van Brittan Brown created/designed the home security system we all know today. How? By cutting 4 peepholes through her door, adding cameras to them, then connected the cameras to a monitor so she could see people at the door without leaving room. Mary then would add microphones so she could talk with the person who was at the door and a button to call the police instead of calling the police. She created it in 1966 and filed for a patent. Her and her husband got the patent in 1969. She made it because she felt unsafe when her husband wasn’t home. She won an award from the National Science Committee

Early Life: Mary Van Brittan Brown followed her mother’s footsteps by becoming a nurse. Mary and her husband lived at 151-158 & 135th Avenue in Jamaica, Queens, New York, U.S.A, North America, Earth, Solar System, Milky Way Galaxy, Observable Universe.
