Lonnie Johnson – Super Soaker

About: Lonnie Johnson joined NASA in 1979, there he worked on a variety of projects including; Galleo project (A jupiter probe mission), a bunch of weapons, stealth bomber, and the best one, the super soaker. Johnson also made his own research company, with scientists from Tulane University and Tuskegee University. His company focuses on converting heat into electricity. In the U.S air force he made the – now called – Super Soaker. Originally called the Power Drencher (which one do you prefer?) My boy Johnson made an agreement to sell the Super Soaker to Larami Co. which then became a part of Hasbro. Johnson tweaked the Super Soaker to shoot rubber darts (that became nerf darts) instead of water, creating the modern day nerf gun. My G Johnson now holds over 100 patents, which is a lot. He holds 2 medals from the U.S Air Force: The Achievement Medal & The Commendation Medal. In 2013, he filed a lawsuit against Hasbro for not being paid enough for the royalties from the Super Soaker and other nerf guns. 9 months later, he was rewared with $73 million in royalties from Hasbro. My main man Johnson currently has 2 companies, who are working on making revolutionary energy technology.
Early Life: My guy Johnson was born in Mobile, Alabama. His father introduced electricity to him at an early point in his life. “He once tried to cook up rocket fuel in a saucepan, but almost burnt down the house” – Lonnie’s Father. In high school, he made a robot named Linex in a all-white science fair. He walked home with the 1st place. Johnson went to Tuskegee University
